Default Scary night near Nordegg.

"My wife and I spent the weekend camping out by Nordegg, the area we were in had one other couple camping and that was it. We did manage to be-friend the other couple and enjoyed there company and some good food. On sunday morning around 300am just after we had called it a night we were startled by a loud scream that sounded like a women screaming. The neighbours quickly came to our spot and asked us what that was, I had no idea. The noise seemed to be coming from the north of us and not very far.  We being the ''brave'' guys we arent walked toward the sound that seemed to be getting closer. It went off again and it sounded like a women being beaten or in pain. We both called out to the ''person'' and it went quiet but we could hear heavy movement in that direction. The thought of it being a cougar crossed my mind, but not being able to see the thing made that hard to tell. Out of nowhere we then could hear the same scream type coming from the east of us. The original critter then made a beeline right toward us and it was moving in a hurry, we couldnt see it but you sure could hear it. What ever it was it had just made it obvious it didnt want us any closer. We moved back to our camp and got the fire back up and nervously listened. The wife was in no mood to remain in the spot nor was the other fella's. To make matters worse we had what ever it was follow us right back to the camp. Never did see it, it sounded big though and we and the other couple headed out to a more well used camp ground. Gotta say it was a little freaky.

Question I have is what would scream like that and show signs of aggresion??? "

"This all went on for close to a hour, it was pretty cold out so anyone brave enough to hit those remote woods at 300am would have to be brave. Also it sounded like we were charged at one point so what ever it was was on the ground, we could also hear it walking around. It was damn weird though..."

"Great...I really like the area and now it will be tough to convince the wife to go back.I just let her know it was no big deal ''just another sasquatch''. "

"Listening to the cougar recordings and some other animals on-line I cant find the sound, no kidding guys I cant...So far based on the recordings I have listened to those can be ruled out.The ''sounds'' varied from long to short and although there would be no way of telling forsure seemed directed at us,also what ever ''it'' was had a buddy off to our east that made the same sound twice but was more distant.I know most of my animal calls and this just didnt seem to fit the ones I know. What was it?  No idea...Scary?  Yep sure was... "

"Just spoke to the other fella as we did exchange numbers on the trip, he said he is still shaken by the night...I pointed him towards several sounds and he will get back to me in due time. His words were it was big, by the amount of noise we herd. I have to agree by the amount of noise made that it did sound big. Also he reminded me of the ''other'' sounds that came from our east and the fact that he not only thinks we were charged but had something thrown at us. No kidding, maybe someone was playing a game with us but hats off to whoever it was they did a great job...I forgot to mention that it did sound like something landed near us (as in thrown our direction) that was the event that made us head back to camp and shortly after head out. It sounds just like a bad camping story but thats how it went. This story just gets creepier by the day. I still dont think Bigfoot though,  although I am thinking someone was messing with us, all points would indicate it... "

"Well I have listened to several recordings over the past day and a half and found this...Yes believe it or not its on a sasquatch site but sounds about as close to what the four of us encountered, I am not saying it was something unexplained because we didnt see it. Just this is the closest thing...Call me crazy but thats the same sound...Scroll down to something called ''unitas sound recording''.  I dont believe in Bigfoot myself but hey what do I know..."

ASSR note:   The above quoted posts are from the same individual, regarding a camping experience September long weekend near Nordegg, Alberta. Although no sighting was made, this report has the tone of an encounter. Keep in mind Apes scream as a form of vocalization, plus they also are capable of throwing rocks or other forms of forest debris. Screams and throwings are well documented, with Sasquatch reports. Other species of North American wildlife are capable a type of scream as well, but this area  had a reported physical sighting of a bipedal Ape, crossing the trunk road, only two years earlier.
